For 500 meters (the most challenging race):
- June 21, 2017: I rowed 1:46.1
- August 9, 2017: I rowed 1:45.4
- November 12, 2017: I rowed 1:43.8
- March 21, 2018: I rowed 1:41.5
I am only 0.4 seconds behind the lightweight 500-meter world record, 80-89 age-group, of 1:41.1 set by Dean Smith in 2008. My next goal is to row 500 meters in 1:41.0 or better.

How do I get faster as I get older?
I have proved you can improve your fitness after you are 80 years old. I do rowing workouts for about 30 minutes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. I eat a simple diet and take normal supplements. I take no steroids or unhealthy drugs.
